As part of the Southern Water’s River Medway Scheme (RMS), Meteor Communications are providing Atkins with high resolution, real time water quality data; not only is this required for license purposes but it is also used directly by Atkins, Southern Water and the Environment Agency to make evidence based decisions with regards to operation of the RMS and abstraction from the Medway. Please see our project page for more information.
During the recent wet weather experienced in Wales and North West England Meteor’s flood monitoring camera systems have provided invaluable real time images from remote trash screens and culverts to Local Councils, Water Utilities and the Environment Agency. The cameras and secure web portal enable a more proactive, targeted response to events as they unfold on site. This means that flooding events can be mitigated at an earlier point or avoided entirely, with site personnel able to remotely assess and monitor the situation live from any web enabled device. The picture above shows a blockage in progress at a grid in the middle of the night, which would not have been detected using traditional level monitoring systems.
Meteor are pleased to announce that we have moved to new offices in St Albans. Our newly refurbished facility houses our production, development and adminstration functions in a space which has been specifically designed for our continued expansion. We look forward to welcoming you here soon.
Meteor Communications are pleased to announce that we have recently achieved Achilles UVDB Verify Category B1 accreditation.
The accreditation is an enhanced pre-qualification scheme used by the utilities sector. UVDB makes it easier for companies in the sector to assess and manage their supply chain risks and ensure that best practices are adopted.
The accreditation was achieved by a successful audit in our office of our HSQE management systems.
We are delighted to have scored considerably higher than the industry average, which shows our continuous improvement and commitment to our clients. For the management system evaluation we achieved 97% for Health & Safety, 100% for Environmental, 94% for Quality and 100% for Corporate Social Responsibility. For the on-site assessment audit we achieved 98% for Health & Safety, 100% for Environmental and 100% for Quality.
Meteor have recently deployed a comprehensive real time monitoring network on the Evenlode for the Thames Water eight2o alliance and Atkins. For more details on the system please see the project page.
Meteor will be exhibiting at WWEM on the 02nd and 03rd November at the International Centre Telford. Please come and visit us on our stand 63 & 64 where we will showing our integrated Water Quality Monitoring Services.
With the new Glenridding Flood Defences nearing completion the MCE-Nexus remote camera has been invaluable in monitoring the progress of the construction works in real time. Installed in May 2016 the camera has been sending high resolution images every 20 minutes. This is accessible to the Environment Agency and the general public via an open web link, which is incorporated into web pages such as the excellent Paterdale Parish Flood Group
