Field Operations Meteor strive to minimise the impact of our work on the environment. This includes optimisation of service and travel plans, use of public transport and efficient vehicles. Manufacture Meteor products are designed in house and manufactured by specialist subcontract manufacturers (mostly SME’s) in the UK. Designs are optimised to ensure a minimum of waste material during manufacture and to minimise waste on disposal. As part of Meteor’s ongoing ISO9001 assessments the Sustainable manufacturing policy continues to be developed and improved. Meteor Offices and Workshops All Meteor buildings have undertaken efficiency programmes including replacement of lighting with LED panels, boiler replacements and additional insulation. Our offices in St Albans utilise heat pumps, majoritively powered from solar during the summer months. Energy consumption is proactively monitored to identify high consumption activities and reduce them where possible. Solar Power Meteor have a 20kW array installed at Orion House and a 10kW array at Campbell Court, which provide a significant amount of the required energy for the buildings over the summer period. There is an ambition to increase installed solar capacity during 2026. Recycling All waste materials are recycled where possible and Meteor equipment which has reached end of life is appropriately dismantled and if possible reused. Some equipment has been refurbished and donated to local charitable and educational groups. Local Environment At the St Albans offices Meteor have planted a pollinator friendly border in front of the workshops to encourage local wildlife. In addition a small wildflower meadow is taking shape with a small scale tree planting programme in the local area.Sustainability
