Lake District Buoys
The Environment Agency have enjoyed a successful first year monitoring Ullswater and Coniston lakes using equipment supplied by Meteor.
Meteor integrated a MCC-972S unit with a YSI 6600 sonde and EMM68 buoy. The complete system was built and commissioned within 2 weeks. Using SDI-12 communication the station is capable of interfacing up to 3 sondes and is also equipped with analogue inputs for battery level monitoring.
The unit was successfully self deployed by the EA with remote assistance from Meteor and within 30 minutes of launch data was present on the web.
Quote from the Environment Agency Field Science Team: With the new Buoy and telemetry system, we are now able, not only to view real-time water quality data over the internet at the push of a button, but able to check long term trends occurring within the lakes.
