Airport Infrastructure Cameras
Meteor Communications has recently installed a network of eight infrastructure monitoring cameras for a major UK airport.
Specifically deployed to monitor water management infrastructure around the airport perimeter the cameras deliver high quality, real time images to a secure web portal. The cameras are centrally viewed and controlled from the portal, with access to historic images and camera diagnostics.
The camera systems have been installed utlising existing insfrastructure on site, such as handrails and concrete bases. With no requirement for mains power or IP connection no preliminary work was required before installation. This ensured that the cameras could be installed in short timescales, with the deployment of all cameras completed in one day.
Small solar panels support year round continuous operation of the cameras, with no scheduled maintenance or visits required. Use of the cameras enables Airport personnel to respond faster to events taking place on site, and saves on observation visits to the locations.
The airport also leased two short term camera systems, which were deployed within 48 hours of request, providing rapid coverage of remote locations with no supporting infrastructure. Running entirely from battery power these systems were in place for 2 months with no maintenance visits required.
